This
guide is intended for the following products; X232, X233, X234, X235, X236,
and X237.
1. Check
to see all connections are connected correctly on the case and motherboard.

2. Build your system as usual. Refer to the main
computer case manual. (MCEcaseManual.pdf)
3. Complete
O/S Installation
4.
Connect Parallel Connector to the Parallel Port of
your system.
5.
Download and unzip the following file;
http://www.ahanix.com/download/mce.zip or from here:
MCE.ZIP (26.2MB)
6. Install
Parallel Port Driver.exe and reboot.
The following steps are for Windows
XP Media Center Edition users ONLY. (7 to 11)
7.
Install VFDdriverMCE.msi and reboot.
8.
Make sure ehmsas.exe is not running in the Windows
Task Manager.
9.
During VFDdriverMCE installation, it may ask you
to install .NET Framework. If so, install dotnetfx.exe (Microsoft .NET
Framework 1.1 Re-distributable) from the downloaded zip file.
10.
Installation of VFDdriverMCE requires Media Center 2004 or later, and it
also requires Visual Studio.NET 2003 and dlportio.dll from
Parallel Port Driver.exe.
11. Reboot
and launch Media Center to see your VFD in action.
(note) Parallel Port mode in the CMOS must be set to EPP
The following steps are for Windows
98/2000/ME/XP users ONLY. (12 to 17)
12.
Execute Smartie.exe within VFDsoftware folder.
13. Click
on “SetUp”.
14. Select
“LCD Setting” to be “Parallel Port (HD44780)”. Leave port number at its
default setting.
15. Select
“LCD Size” to be “2x16”
16. You
can customize display setting through multiple options available.
17. If
VFD does not refresh right away, try re-starting Smartie software or reboot
the system.
(note) Parallel Port mode in the CMOS
must be set to EPP
