There is a growing demand among value-conscious desktop and notebook PC users for systems designed to meet the evolving needs of day-to-day computing applications. AMD is introducing the Sempron product line to provide the appropriate performance and functionality for these systems. AMD Sempron processors are tailored to value-conscious buyers of desktop and notebook PCs.

The K7 (AMD 7th Generation) Semprons are based on the .13 micron core of the Athlon XP line and features similar specifications such as 333 MHz FSB, but the K8 (AMD 8th Generation) Sempron are based on the Athlon 64 processors and come in the 754-pin packaging type.

Both the K7 and K8 Semprons feature 384 KB effective cache (128KB L1 and 256KB L2). Also of significant note is that the K8 Semprons DO NOT support x86-64 extensions 64 bit compatibility) because they are part of the value line.
